It's SWAP time again!
We will be returning to the Carbondale Elks Lodge and again asking for a $5 donation at the door to cover rental of the space and the Elks staff.
NOTE: We will NOT be going through bags and sorting items this year. Guests will be directed to where to add their clothing. Sort your bags by size to make this easier.
If you've not joined us in the past, The Swap is an excuse to socialize with like minded people of multiple generations, drinking some wine or bloody marys and we also happen to trade clothing and accessories.
We have guests in all shapes and sizes, and donations from formal dress to casual men's wear. So no excuses, if everyone comes, then everyone will find something they can use! All clothing left at the end of the afternoon will be donated to needy causes.
Here's how it works:
Clean out your closet and bring gently used items to the Elks Club. All clothing should be CLEAN AND GENTLY USED.
We will have tables and some display racks set up for displaying clothing. Guest will add their own clothing to the mix.
There are currently no rules about how much to bring or how much to take. We ask that people be courteous and reasonable. Bring what you have, take what you can reasonably use.
At the end of the party, all clothing and other items are donated to charity, local charities preferred, but really, any charitable offering is ok. Know a family in need? That's fine too. Please feel free to curate a donation to take with you at the end of the event. In the past people have donated to the SIU Business School workwear closet, the Rainbow Cafe free clothing closet, The Warming Center, Good Samaritan House and the Survivor Empowerment Center. Note that the SEC only takes clothing that’s in season and may not have room so check with them before donating.
This is a private event. We are a loosely organized group of tight knit friends who host this party, so there is no official organization or business behind these shenanigans. The only rules are be courteous, bring what you have, take what you'll use.
Please bring a friend. The more variety, the better time we have.
The Fabulous Chris Chaney will be making onsite alterations again this year. What a difference it made to have someone to shorten skirts and take things apart to put back together in customized ways.
Pleased to have Massage by Cherry - Reflexology by Chuck back this year as well as The Snowbird Street Band bringing the vibes.
Cherry, Chuck and Chris all work for tips so please be generous.
